Paedobaptism

Interesting article by Dr. Guy M. Richard in this month's TableTalk magazine from Ligonier Ministries.

"We wholeheartedly affirm that baptism is rightly administered to adults (never before baptized) when they profess faith in Christ. The term paedobaptist is thus something of a misnomer. We don’t merely baptize young children; we baptize both professing believers and their young children, and, in that sense, we are both credobaptist and paedobaptist. What distinguishes us from our credobaptist brothers and sisters is the word only. Credobaptists baptize professing believers only, whereas we baptize professing believers and their children."

Highlights from "Rome's Audacious Claim" - Chapter 7

You may purchase this book from Amazon here.

The Roman Catholic Church states that Christ entrusted the whole Church to Peter.

Yet…

The entire church could not possibly imitate Peter. His biography was not in circulation in the first century, nor was CBS broadcasting news about “the first pope” on the radio to believers in Alexandria. The apostle Thomas went all the way to India. Those believers could not imitate Peter’s faith because they did not know him.

He (Jesus) did not tell Peter he was shepherd of all churches and all Christians; he wanted Peter to feed those who were with him: those he could tend to and those who could follow his example. Jesus himself would take care of his sheep in India through Thomas and those in Asia Minor through John.

Thus, we find that it is James, not Peter who presided at the Council of Jerusalem. While it is historically certain that James became the bishop of Jerusalem, this cannot be the reason Peter let him take the lead.

James, not Peter, gave the final decision in a council that decided an issue affecting every Gentile church.

Jesus Rode a Donkey on Purpose (Sermon, April 5, 2020)

(Palm Sunday sermon by Pr. Dan Baumler)

Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem on purpose - to intentionally suffer for our sin, to deliberately be punished for our sin, to precisely hang on a cross in our place for our sin, to absolutely keep His promise to take away our sin. Oh, how Jesus loved sinners like you and me!

What to do if you (or a loved one) might have COVID-19

(From Wired.com)

Don't go to the doctor unless you need to do so. Ask yourself: Would I normally go to the hospital or doctor with these symptoms? If the answer is no, you should likely stay home and continue monitoring your symptoms.

Man of Sorrows

"... Raw unadulterated pleasure for pleasure’s sake is never a fulfilling pleasure. Violation of the sacred in the pursuit of happiness is not truly a source of happiness. In fact, it kills happiness because it can run roughshod over many a victim. Pleasure that profanes is pleasure that destroys." - Ravi Zacharias
