Church Fathers On Matthew 16:18 And Peter The Rock

"How did the early Fathers view Matthew 16? Did they view it as an establishment of Peter as infallible pope, with authority over all of the church, with a line of successors coming from him?"

My dear brother in Christ Jesse from the blog Rational Christian Discernment posted his response to this question back in December 2017. 

Its relevance never diminishes since the Roman Church continues to proclaim this passage as basis for Peter being the first pope.
